This will take a long time. but it's a good camera.

So that's my preview of the Reolink Go PT and some of the things I've encountered while using the regular Reolink Go. Hope this helps someone. I've only had this camera for a few months so I'll update later. I've seen a lot of incorrect information in other reviews and in the questions section so thought I'd offer my five cents for what I've experienced so far. The first thing I would like to highlight is that their customer service has been great for me. specially Peter. I originally started this endeavor in December 2020 with a regular Reolink Go. I had a 2GB prepaid data SIM card from T-Mobile. The T-Mobile coverage map said I have 4G and was close to 5G so I decided to give it a try. I use this camera to monitor my family's hunting ground. I couldn't connect Reolink Go to the T-Mobile network. Somewhere. I tried it for a solid 7 or 8 hours. While driving to my property I tried connecting and disconnecting the battery and hitting the reset button. After damaging my car on bad roads this weekend, I returned to town and went to T-Mobile. They tried the SIM from a phone with a display and it worked right away. They said the only difference was the display, which included talk and text. So they added it to my card for about $5 more. It's good. $15 a month and I have to go. Not correct! I drove to the house and the camera didn't connect! Wow, I was upset to say the least. I wasn't sure who to be angry at. It turns out that T-Mobile's coverage map is exaggerated, to say the least. Peter from Reolink suggested I upgrade to a newer camera model that connects better, according to people he asked. He said he can pan and tilt too, which can come in handy. So I switched to Reolink Go PT and also decided to see if I could just get a SIM card from Verizon as my phone works great at the hotel and we use it as a provider. Peter said I could try it but I'm not sure if it would work because they didn't test it with Verizon so I agreed. After some discussions with the manager of my local Verizon store, he reluctantly sold me the SIM card even though the IMEI is not compatible with their network. He activated it from another device. I plug it in and boom! We have a video of a guy saying it won't work right away. It works with Verizon and comes with the family plan, so you get unlimited data instead of 2G. Now I can look at this baby all day if I want to. Insist that the card be sold to you and activated on another device. Assign it to your phone's IMEI or whatever you need to do but it will work, they just want to sell you their camera. It's about $400 or something crazy. Anyway, I got a Reolink Go PT and drove back to the hotel with a Verizon SIM card, which connected instantly and stayed connected throughout the trip. I placed the camera about 5 meters from the barn because I didn't want to use the motion detector but wanted to get an overview of the grounds and buildings. I used the Signal Checker app to determine where the nearest towers were and that the barn was interfering with my signal, so I put it on a telephone pole that was outside. Now it works fine. It's -6f outside and I'm panning, tilting and running HD video. My battery is 100% charged as it has been unseasonably sunny for the last week or so. I'm sure this thing will do a lot better in the summer but I'm happy with it even in these very cold conditions. Important points: Make sure you have a good signal for the SIM card you want to use! I took my SIM card out of my iPhone and put it in the camera before even going to Verizon so I knew it would work. - Pan and Tilt - works well, but you have to hold and drag your finger like a joystick in a video game. If your signal is blurry, a slight push on this joystick can make it squirm and rotate. lol-alert-loud enough for my purposes. I didn't have to use it, but I tested it and I could hear it 100 meters away. Not loud at this distance, but I could hear him. - Video quality - I am really very impressed with the 1080P video quality. That is very clear. I will add some photos in 1080P and Fluent to this review. Fluency isn't bad, and I could still make out someone's face if they were around. 1080P, although you can certainly see her face. - Two way audio - I haven't tested this yet. I'll have to add something to that later. As for the audio quality of the video, I basically just heard the wind howling and the deer crunching in the snow. - Share Camera - I haven't used this yet, but it seems to work just like the camera owner. You just scan the code after downloading the app and then add the camera. Don't quote me because I haven't used it yet. Things I would change or improve. about 7 feet off the ground but I want this thing higher where you can't reach and grab it. Or stand in the back of a truck and grab it. I think 75ft is more appropriate for this purpose. I try to fool him with motion-sensitive spotlights that have a range of 75 feet. I will report this later. But the light is supposed to trigger this thing, so in theory it should work with the motion spotlight above it. Fingers crossed! I also want to see the temperature like on the standard game camera. It has a time and a date. no temperature. Overall I like this camera and will probably buy more. It's much better than the regular Reolink Go. I like that it has an antenna that a regular phone doesn't have. The solar panel is solid and 100% charged since I moved it to a new location on the pole. Panel facing south without obstacle. I love that the iPhone lets me watch videos and take photos without taking a screenshot. I love that the camera can capture old videos when I move around this facility a lot and it's running all the time. That's why I make sure to save important things on my phone. I think it's a better choice than the regular Reolink Go. I didn't think I would use the pan and tilt feature, but I was wrong. I use this all the time. My advice: spend the extra dough and get a more versatile one that connects easier and has an antenna. I'll update this again in spring or summer when I've used it and tested it more thoroughly. Also, if you have any problems, try to find Peter for support. He was great and patient and handled my disappointment well. Thanks again Peter if you see this!
