Review on Onkyo BD SP809 Blu Ray Disc Player by Gopal Baltimore

There are plenty of ports on the back for everything you need to connect it to which is one of the reasons I bought it. The Blue Ray picture is amazingly surreal and the THX sound is incredible. The difference is audible even with standard DVDs. I think the player needs to be updated e.g. B. the title/track list on the front display and the ability to turn off the icons on screen when the play/pause button is pressed etc., unless there's a way to do it it doesn't come up. on the screen? Am I missing a button? I don't think this would be an option if that were what a rudimentary, cheap, crappy player would have rather than a $400-600 home theater THX Blu-ray unit. Apart from that he is a very good player. TO UPDATE. September 2015 I hate saying bad things about a product, but the negative things are starting to pile up. I've had this thing for 6 months now and I have to say it doesn't play all the discs I get through Netflix. like rent. This is very frustrating! Serious! All these new technologies and machines are working worse than before!? This is how you watch halfway through a movie and then return to the menu screen by default. This has now happened on 9 discs from Netflix. Rental rims are made of cheaper material and what does that matter? I am less than impressed with this car and will be looking for another brand. The scaling is no different than my standard Panasonic DVD which is 14 years old and still works. An upscaled picture via HDMI looks the same as when viewed via the Panasonic component/RCA cable. I updated the firmware and tried again and now it gives me an error when trying to connect to the network to see if that fixes any problems. As a paying customer, why do I have to update a brand new car? The price of 400-600€ is not worth it.
