Review on 🚲 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Caddy CC-125 Bike Rack Adapter by Jeremy Tyson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good alternative to the standard bike rack.

I bought both the CC100 Cargo Caddy and CC125 bike rack as a set so I can carry my bikes in the back of the motorhome. Therefore, this review focuses on combined components. The CC100 Cargo Caddy is a bit flimsy and you need to be careful when tightening the nuts as you can damage the tubes if you over tighten them. But it'll hold 500 pounds, so it's strong enough when it's all bolted together. The only real downside is that the design allows for a lot of right-to-left movement when on the receiver. But that's the case with all these types of carriers I guess. Since my RV has a tubular steel bumper just above the coupler pocket, I'll probably just add a couple of angle brackets to the ends of it. I don't blame the manufacturer as they couldn't anticipate all the different vehicles that this dolly could be used with so they couldn't add some sort of universal mount. The good news is that the coasters are wide. Adequate for most mountain bike tires, however the manufacturer recommends installing stands on the inside of the tires rather than the outside. However, this was not possible on the bikes I have as the kickstand interfered with the derailleur mechanism. Bikes must also be tied down with at least 3 straps (1 strap per bike included) or they all jump. around. But with both bikes on the trolley I still have room to fit a 5hp outboard between them. I can buy firewood at the campsite and just throw it in the cart without any worries.

Pros
  • For tires up to 2.25 inches wide.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
