Restricted Use: Tile Grout

This product is only really good for one purpose, which is grouting between tiles and when you don't need a close color match. I needed something to match a tile where I was grouting some very narrow jagged cracks as well as some chips. The tile was in the gray color that was common in the 1950s and, for the most part, well preserved as the original mid-century details. The tip of the pen is too wide for such a crack, so the paint got on the tile. on both sides. It rubs off easily if you do it right away, but then it essentially rubs off the grout as well. I found it was more effective if I covered the areas where I was filling in the shavings. However, the color didn't match. It was the only gray color available, but it was too dark. I basically wiped it off and the color that remained more or less matched the color of the tile, which was better than the white grout. So I used it as a stain, not a paint I guess. I think using it for grouting between tiles would require a steady hand. This item is essentially exactly the same as any drawing marker available at an art supply store; The paint in it will probably become waterproof after drying. My tile is not in a place that can get wet. I don't think it will look like colored grout as it is an opaque color. I think it will look exactly like how you painted over the joints. In places where my white grout got dirty, I just applied a thin coat of real grout and it came out looking new.
