We have a gas stove. We can't get it low enough to cook certain foods without cooking, sticking or burning. A few years ago I bought a non-stainless steel diffuser. It always looked terrible (rust and stains) and the cheap wooden handle fell off. I was very happy to find this product which is an improvement over my original. Stainless steel will not rust, the handle is also stainless steel and folds onto a platter for more compact storage. We've been using it for over a year now and are very happy with it. EDIT (March 2020): We are almost two years old now and this diffuser still works and looks great.
