Just made some loaves with my new dough hook. I bake homemade rye bread with rye sourdough; it worked well. My tentative comparison to the pigtail attachment is that the batter seems to want to rise on the corkscrew, but stays deeper in the bowl with the hook. I haven't noticed any difference in the final product (at least not yet!). The hook is easy to wash off. I doubt I'll need to wash it in the dishwasher, but there doesn't seem to be a problem with the white finish. (The bare metal pigtails have "do not wash in the dishwasher” warnings, but they also wash out easily.)
