This may not be a typical use for a bench vise, but I use mine as a "stand" for hand embroidery. I specifically wanted something with a ball joint so I could turn it in any direction. I have bad hands so I can't always hold my hoop and I also need something to make some stitches easier (like french knots). That works great! It holds my hoop in place and doesn't move from its place on my table. Please note: Due to the nature of this product, it will be slightly dirty upon arrival. So I advise you to wipe it well before putting a clean frame and fabric on it. In fact, I could make little pencil cases out of fabric just to give my creations extra protection. For the purposes I use this vise for I am very satisfied! Recommend!
