I bought this unit for 10,000 after I recently moved. We didn't want to sacrifice our kitchen window and already had 2 old floor standing cabinets so we chose this one mainly because of its incredibly small footprint. That's half the size of the older Sharp, which also had 10,000 BTUs, so that was pretty impressive. This air conditioner blows COLD. In fact, I'm too cold when I'm in the kitchen for a moment and the wind blows against me. The fluctuations are not great, they direct the air in different directions, but since it is a blind, it always blows in one direction and the other alternately in the same direction or in the opposite direction. The exhaust pipe material is very cheap and thin, yes, it shines. The heat is crazy, but like those exhaust pipes, you have to cover them with duct insulation, which basically eliminates this problem. The pipe ends are not easy to connect and since the tubing is flimsy it will pop out on you so the first step is to attach and glue them. In addition, the window part is narrow and the end part is not long. So if you lay it horizontally (like most people do) the exhaust pipe won't let the plastic part fit completely in the window. I had to use 2 inch square styrofoam AC insulation underneath and tape it over. To be honest, everything about the exhaust pipe speaks of poor design, so expect disappointment. One thing that I think can be fixed is make it a 5 star device. The condensate drain is silent and without a pump, so it is very easy to use. Install it with my condensate pump so I never have to empty a container. Unfortunately, in my new apartment, which is also a penthouse with high ceilings and no attic, I have about 450 to 500 square feet of cooling space. . So in the middle of the day this device just can't keep up. It's not my fault, I need another block to keep the room cool in the midday heat. At night, however, the air conditioner cools the room significantly, so there are no complaints about its performance. The app works well and is easy to set up. Just make sure you select the correct Wi-Fi frequency to set up as this device only works on 2.4GHz. I haven't tried Alexa, but as with any Alexa-enabled thing, I can imagine a super clunky experience, so I'm not even trying that anymore. It worked for a day and a half and I walked on the floor wet from the air conditioner. It seems to be leaking from the bottom of the device. Not sure what is wrong but it appears faulty or possibly damaged in transit, looks fine upon inspection. I tried draining it and almost no water came out. Even the 14K device is LOUD. I mean awfully loud compared to a 10K device. I would not recommend the 14K block by returning it as it is still losing water. I will find an alternative device with a similar BTU and price. Update 7/22/20: One month ownership of a 10K block and no problems. I read a review where someone claimed that it never stops cooling even when it reaches temperature. That is not true. As with any continuous air conditioner, once the desired temperature is reached, the fan will continue to run, but the compressor will be turned off as a fan. This is indicated by the cooling function flashing. You can test this by raising the cooling temperature and once it gets above what the thermostat says it will shut off and keep blowing air like a fan. However, be aware that due to the placement of the thermostat and exhaust pipe, it may show a higher temperature than it actually is, making it colder. A simple solution that is honestly recommended for any stationary unit is to cover the exhaust pipe with duct insulation. 6 inch kits are available at hardware stores and will fit over the exhaust pipe. This prevents the redistribution of heat from the tube.
