The first Aqua brush I bought was the medium Kuretake brush. It was pretty good except for the water flow which was too much food for my coloring pages. I squeezed a little and then wiped the brush on a paper towel for 5 minutes before using it on paper. Not perfect. Then I saw someone reviewing the Derwent Aqua Brush Set and thought that was a good idea. These are definitely higher quality brushes and I really like the different brush sizes (especially the small/thin ones, great for intricate details). But they're usually dry, so they're good for some books but not others. The bristles were also too flexible, making it difficult to stay within the lines. Finally I saw someone on YouTube saying they prefer Caran d'Ache brushes to Derwent brushes so I ordered the whole set when I saw one used. one for only $10. The set I received didn't look really used (the bristles still had "gummy" or something, I had to dampen the bristles and work with them a bit) and came in the original packaging. So it was a bargain. But the best part is that these brushes are just perfect! 2 brushes - medium and large - perfect. Just the right length and flexibility and the water flow is perfect too! But the third was a surprise. It has a felt tip like a marker and stays wet without flooding the page with water. It's actually a great replacement for the water-based blender markers (Dove, Koi, etc.) that you can use with watercolor pencils. I can use it on very thin paper as I get by with very little water and it's great for small spaces. The results are also much brighter than with a regular water brush because the water to pigment ratio is lower. I just wish I could buy these brushes first instead of stumbling across others. But they aren't that bad, and now I have many different sizes for different books! If you are looking for aqua brushes, these are the best. I would recommend this set and the zig detailer as the best brush combo for adult coloring.
