Review on ☕ Hario V60 Size 02 Natural Paper Coffee Filters - 100 Count by Jaclyn Laws

Avoid 100 packs of pills, buy 40 packs of pills and prewash with water from a kettle.

TL;DR (too long, didn't read): - Inappropriate brewing time (2:30 - 5+ minutes)? It's your filter, not the grind, the proportions, the water temperature, or the technique. Avoid 100 tabs. It usually clogs in the last 1/3 of the brew. - Buy only the original 40 packs (they are in the pink/black box with the FSC seal), then adjust other settings. - Boil twice as much water as you need and pre-rinse your device/filter and half with water. Do not just rinse with hot tap water! It makes a huge difference (I have no idea why, but it is). I bought 100 Tab filters after watching James Hoffman's video blog on filters and quickly found that getting a brew time under 4-5 minutes for a very coarse coffee was almost impossible. Earth (the size of a boulder). As many have mentioned, this filter practically stops during the last 1/3 of the brew, giving you a weak but acidic cup. After comparing myself to a local barista, I bought the original 40-pack packaging from their coffee shop. At first I got weird results - some filters took 30 seconds to drain water while others took 2 minutes or more. This meant some brewed 2:30 straight, others brewed longer than 5 minutes. (Fun fact: I destroyed some of my 40-pack filters trying to drain them with boiling water the day before. While most filters took 30 seconds to drain from the water, boiling water increased drain time when I actually used it the next day (note to self: don't do that!) water - the first half is for washing the filter, the second half for the actual filling. So far after 3 pour overs with 40pk and this technique I've hit the 2:45-3 minute mark again and again and had some insanely good cups. There are now 100 filters sitting unused in my office. I hope this helps someone who is frustrated by the volatility of brewing time, even if all other variables are exactly the same.
