Review on High Performance MSI Z390-A PRO Motherboard for Intel 8th and 9th Gen with M.2 USB 3.1 Gen 2 DDR4 HDMI DP CFX Dual Gigabit LAN ATX Z390 Gaming by Cody Cobbs

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good motherboard for Intel 10th Gen processors

I finally upgraded my computer with this motherboard and core i7 processor. I mainly use this for remote work so it's more than I need, but I'll probably be using this configuration for 8-10 years - it gives me the flexibility for technology changes that will inevitably happen. I have found that the CPU power cables are difficult to connect once the CPU cooler is attached. I would have liked another USB 2.0 connection, but I was able to set it up with 4 USB ports on the front. I'm not using the more modern (3.2) USB connector yet, so I have room for expansion in the future. I could use a little more space for the power LED connection - the connection for my old case takes up space. 3 pins, but this motherboard only has room for 2 pins. A trip to my litter box and a few minutes with a soldering iron resulted in the cable working fine. A more recent case probably wouldn't have this problem. My biggest problem isn't MSI's fault - I wanted to use the motherboard's video connector for a single monitor - I found in the MSI FAQ that the current Intel chipset doesn't support both a graphics card (or cards) and use it from onboard allows video. I wish it was something I saw in the Revain description. My current configuration uses 2 MSI graphics cards and also a USB adapter for my third monitor. I can probably control this monitor from a different port on one of the graphics cards - it'll only take me a few minutes to reconfigure things (again!). almost does not work, so the system is very quiet. Installing Win-10 Pro was easy, as was installing the MSI drivers and utilities. I still have a lot of software and data to copy from my old system to the M.2 SSD, but it's going through my employer's VPN and I have an internet radio station playing in the background. For me a very good motherboard.
