These are high quality pads hence the price. But they really are made for a grinder/buffer as they require a certain machine weight to work effectively. I use a handheld planetary sander/polisher and because it's light (even when I'm applying pressure to it) and the surface area of these pads is much smaller than the cheaper pads, the combination results in less contact. which requires many more passes than with pads that have a much larger surface area. They seem to be 'catching' more and more, they are of high quality so I can't fault them and will give them 5 stars. On the other hand, you will need a heavier machine to get perfect results with these pads. For a handheld floor or benchtop sander/polisher, it's better to use cheaper pad sets, which of course won't last as long, but will get the job done in far fewer passes required.
