You'd better do the same because pulling the anchor back up puts a lot of stress on the device and by energized I mean pulling down and the anchor is lifted through the water. That met with a lot of resistance. So don't invent a BS platform or you might see this thing jump over the edge of your boat. You need to buy an extra switch that goes to the stern of your boat so you can operate the winch without getting up. to the front of the boat every time you want to walk up and down.
