Looked brand new out of the box. No problems with Charter Spectrum Internet activated, used the online interface, never had to call. Super stable. The modem I got from my ISP broke almost every day, after using my own modem for a few years I decided to increase my service speed and my old 4x4 modem didn't work. Decided to try the ISP's modem and it was nothing but hell. When it works, the DL's top speed is a rollercoaster ride, up and down. Didn't handle stress very well and ended up losing touch and hanging up almost every day. And although I could replace it and install another, I decided to try a quality modem if the price was right. For the cost, it was hard to pass up when it worked. As far as I could tell it was almost brand new in the box. The speed is stable, don't miss. My downloads no longer cause a large drop in DL speed. My router is configured to handle buffer bloat tests well and now I'm back at A+ in DSL reports with this modem. A quality modem is worth it in my opinion. It's nice to have a status page to see what's going on. In theory, the ISP's modem is better, but it wasn't stable, kept freezing and didn't show the status webpage. I made the right choice IMO.
