I have 18" on my 30" 29 gallon. It keeps the aquarium light bright enough to enjoy all the fish, even the shimmering ones on the bottom. In a dark room, it's like a room light. I also use moonlight which I like to use to watch my nocturnal catfish. I wish him all the best to grow plants! Two Anubias grow, but that's all. You seem fine with that light! I put it on my 10 gallon to see how it would look (as I plan on upgrading the 29 to a planted tank and eventually using it on the 10 gallon) and it looked fantastic.
