Not sure if it's whisper quiet but I like the two door system and it's easy to assemble. I bought this for a post-op cat (who hated it). It will not be used to feed/lock up my greedy cat who would otherwise run around eating other people's food. The 36" is too big for this purpose and takes up quite a bit of space (24" or 30" might be better). However, if you are using a cat cage, there is enough lengthwise space for the litter box and bed, so there is it might be better to make more to make more room for the litter box.
