Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Enhanced Photography Stability: iOptron 3305A SkyTracker Ball Head (Black) by Sean House

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worth the money and highly recommended for an astro image!

What else can I say about this product? I use this for astrophotography where stability is important. It's rock solid and can easily support the weight of a Nikkor 180mm ED (an old style metal lens, weighs about 2 pounds for the lens alone) as well as an ADM rail that I use to mount the camera and stabilize the lens. camera body. itself, plus dew heaters at the end of the lens. One person can easily use this ball head with any ADM or Vixen style bar, allowing it to attach to any equatorial mount with a Vixen dovetail. Now I can compose my shot (meaning I can rotate the camera and lens stabilization unit to get the perfect composition) without resorting to secondary methods like using a splint and ring knot. This technique is too unstable and unreliable, or I like it. The ball head is smooth in all directions. It easily tightens on the ball and won't slip even when a heavy weight (about 5 pounds) is placed on it. The quick release plate is one of the best I've seen. It's larger than usual, but any universal quick release mounting plate can be mounted on the ball head itself. Fit and finish are excellent. The ball head itself is quite heavy and gives the impression that it is built to last. You can pay less or more for such an item, but $52 is just the right amount.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Thin
