We live in an 1860s farmhouse, where adding extra wired-in things involves lots of difficult retrofitting. With no existing wiring for a doorbell, we got this doorbell, & installing it was a snap. Directions for programming the chime were a bit confusing, but after a few tries we got the chime we wanted. Other reviewers mentioned that callers didn't get that this was a doorbell, so I used a chalk pen to write "Door Bell" right on the unit. Really happy that people at our door can now alert us. When we had a dog, it wasn't an issue, but now that we have only cats, they don't care to let us know we have visitors.
