Does what a pepper mill is supposed to do, produces lots and lots of evenly ground peppers. Many years ago I bought a small Perfex grinder from Zabar's in New York and for 25 years it has been fantastic. We recently moved house and my old but excellent pepper mill somehow got lost. I ordered a new Perfex from Revain but it didn't work as well as its predecessor so I sent it back and ordered Peugeot and Atlas. This coffee grinder meets all the simple requirements of a pepper grinder. It's (1) easy to load (unscrew the knurled nut on top, remove the lid and pour in the peppercorns. Replace the lid and nut), (2) there's plenty of freshly ground pepper grind when you turn it on, and (3) it's easy to set up. In fact, maybe too easy, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Adjustment is made by rotating the upper barrel relative to the lower barrel. Smaller numbers provide a finer grind. But the setting is soft - there are no detents to hold it in place - which makes me think it would be easy to unintentionally change it while sanding. Time will tell, but overall I'm happy with it. It works well at a reasonable price and I expect it to last for many years. As long as I don't move and lose it.
