You have to push the door all the way down for the little magnet to hold it in place. It appears to have been designed to hold a larger magnet since there is daylight around this magnet. This rebound is uncomfortable. I use it on a light bedroom door to control the swing when the air conditioner turns on and sucks air so it barely works. I don't think this will work on a heavier door where you need protection from the wind, kids or pets bumping into the door.
