Weak Magnet Fits Doorstop

I bought a polished nickel door magnet and it's so weak it barely holds the door open and you have to be very careful trying to get it to open stay. I bought a bronze door hanger and it was very strong and sturdy. Will have to send it back and try another.

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Empty

Weak magnet Barely acceptable

Bought to match the end of the renovation, found magnet barely strong enough to get the job done. Only holds the door if you "gently" push the door against it. In addition, the threads at the base of the door element are strong and close without cross threads. The previous version worked for me for 5 stars, with a strong magnet. I still use it on another door.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • No power

False advertising and poor quality

I have bought several brands of these doorstops. This is terrible on two counts. Nickel plating is a chromium product that goes through a wire brush wheel. You can still see chrome at about 20% of the base. The strength of the magnet is about 60% of any other product I have purchased. I had to uninstall them and install Everlast from Home Depot as the devices weren't holding the door open.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Crumpled

4 purchased - 2 returned immediately due to defects in the MGF. Didn't replace them with Revain but went to my local Lowes. Lowes doorstops (manufactured by Gate House) are much better constructed, have better workmanship and a stronger magnet. The Lowes magnet was twice the size of the Revain magnet, so it held up longer. To top it off, Lowes stoppers were cheaper too!

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Operating speed

Read before you buy! You'll be CRAZY if you don't.

Misleading product. The magnet is very weak. If you like this product, you probably don't know its good version with a strong magnet. My photos show two versions of this product that I own. The magnets are obviously different sizes. The promotional photo shows a large magnet. Not what I received. Why would they discount their product's main selling point?! Do yourself a favor and go to the store and buy the strong version for less than a dollar more.

Incredibly difficult installation

The mounting plate comes pre-assembled with the doorstop and is almost impossible to separate as other people have said for the installation. I had to drive 2 nails into a piece of wood the same distance apart as the holes in the mounting plate so I could grab it to unscrew to complete the installation. This doorstop needs to be packaged unassembled to eliminate this problem. Also, make sure both sides are perfectly aligned before drilling holes, otherwise you won't get a good grip on the…

Attention buyers: office furniture and lighting

I'm not sure if this product is old or just defective. The base of the spring part is so difficult to remove and I not only have to lubricate with WD40 but also use two screwdrivers to open it. First I tried 2 ballpoint pens and they broke. It's supposed to be easy to remove with your fingers like my others, but it turned out to be a few bucks cheaper. So I paid the price. Also, the magnet isn't that strong and comes off with a light push on the door. I bought 2 and both are not only below…

C- I have better

GOOD: timely delivery BAD: metal embossing defective at the end. See image. But it's set low, and you can't tell from 5 feet. BAD: Requires 4 screws to mount, only 3 per pack. I won a lot of addons so I used one of these from my workbench. BAD: Difficult to disassemble the two pieces that attach to the door to detach the mounting plate. I did it. BAD: The magnet is small and barely holds the door. watch the video The door pushes a little towards the stop and just PULLS BACK INTO YOU! You have…

Unnecessarily complicated assembly

I needed this to hold open a door that is known to close by itself. The real solution would be to hang the door properly, but that's another question entirely. It was NOT facing east to align and install in exactly the right place. I had to install it, then flip it and make new holes a little bit off. Instructions and/or template would be helpful. The real problem is that the magnets are VERY WEAK and often cannot support the weight of the closing door. For example, I opened and locked the…
