The grip is a weak point; a little cheap in every way

I'll leave the final decision after receiving a replacement for the defective unit originally received and will update this review in a timely manner if warranted. It's hard to tell from the photos, but after assembling the vacuum cleaner (the handle and split shaft need to be placed on the other end of the shaft attached to the base of the unit; they are initially separate), the handle on this unit is bent and shows to the left, not straight ahead like the case and the rest of the device. I spoke to someone at Oreck who informed me that this shouldn't be the case. So we'll see when I send this block back for exchange. I hope it works! I like that this vacuum is light (which is why I choose the Oreck). Haven't tried its true aspects of a vacuum cleaner.---------------------UPDATE: 05/04/2021Having received a new unit that has worked flawlessly Handle, I've come to the conclusion that the handle is simply the vacuum's weak point. For some reason, the handle is detached from the base of the device, but not completely, as the wires constantly connect them. All you have to do is screw on the handle. I've noticed two problems so far. Worst of all, when you move the vacuum back and forth, you can feel the handle slipping in and out from time to time, as if it is not firmly attached to the device and is not fixed when you fix the handle. which I assure you I have. Which brings me to problem number two. I only found once that the tightening twist to attach the handle to the base was loose. So this handle is by far the worst thing about this vacuum cleaner. Other problems are: 1) it's loud 2) its normal sound almost sounds like there's something wrong with it (to me) 3) it doesn't approach the walls sideways when moving along them 4) there isn't one Block around the lower bumper guards against furniture/wall impact, and for this model they're in a dark color scheme instead of the light/white color scheme of their previous model that I had. This thing sucks things up pretty well, but those other issues will make me look elsewhere next time.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
