I have switched to fully synthetic lubricants in my cars. After some problems with the national grid which damaged my mini SUV I had to pull the gearbox out for repairs and decided to open it up and see how badly damaged/worn it was inside. Luckily not too bad, I had to replace the intake shaft and of course all the seals and there is also a new HD clutch set. We retrieve it and fill in Red Line light impact resistant gear oil, I don't know why I thought it was red (like ATF) but it's not, it's blue and it's slippery! I actually had a guy tell me not to use synthetic gear oil that my transmission would shift poorly, I don't know what he was talking about but it wasn't Red Line! Go to their website and read more about this stuff. It's unbelievable that it has micro-hard synthetic particles suspended in it, and while it's thinner than the old regular gear oil, it feels like a much heavier product and doesn't want to fall off or break down. dropped the gears. If you apply this stuff to something you don't want to apply it to (your hands or whatever) it absolutely will not come off without something to dissolve it like thinner, brake cleaner or mechanical hand soaps. MY GOD! My transistor switches so smoothly! It's so damn imaginative it's like there are no gears at all. I am really impressed! I will be switching to Red Line Lubricants in all my vehicles when they are serviced. Golden Star! I recommend this stuff to anyone and everyone who has a manual transmission!
