Review on ๐Ÿ”’ August Wi-Fi Smart Lock (4th Gen) โ€“ Simple Installation on Your Current Deadbolt, Sleek Silver Design by Efraine Cruise

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The automatic unlock does not always work.

In case any of you were in the same boat as me waiting for August to fix gen 3 bugs. Well they didn't. If you want to buy this lock, you need to buy the August keyboard with it. I had installed a 4th generation lock with auto unlock enabled for about a week. Already 3 times the device could not be unlocked upon arrival at home. This is based on getting your phone back into Wi-Fi range. At home I send 2,4 and 5 SIDS. My phone seems to have saved both networks. I understand August doesn't support 5GHz, but from what I understand it was just an issue during setup. It is clear that this is not the case. I doubt many of you want to limit your phone's speed at home and prevent it from connecting to 5GHz. Locking and unlocking bluetooth from the phone app seems to work. I've never tried it from more than 10 feet from the castle. It was easy to install. It took about 5 minutes. My Alexa can see the lock but not control it, so interacting with Alexa gets zero stars. I suspect an additional August bridge is required for this to work. So a lock, keyboard and bridge are needed to make this lock fully functional. A bit disappointing as they are all sold individually.
