It works... but it has a mind of its own.

I have a garage door with a lift mechanism and one that slides out from the outside and I needed both to fill in the gaps. On the fold I used some wooden boards on it to give it a nicer look and on the slider I attached it directly to the edge of the door with a couple of pan head sheet metal screws (also called rotary screws). and that closes the gap. when I close it but it gets brittle in cold weather so I redid it by putting a flashing strip on it that I cut from a coil trimming roll and the problems were solved. I wasn't planning on using the roofing nails that came with the kit and it worked as I had to remove and reinstall some of them. I put the screws in the styrofoam and then painted them white because I saw how much they cost pre-painted. I also had the front door slightly warped and the top hit the weatherstrip well but there was a big gap at the bottom. I did the same thing as the folding door and it closed the gap and looks pretty good...and it was a lot easier than putting the hinges back on and the bar couldn't be moved. The hard part is getting it straight and not letting it shrink later and leave gaps. So unless you're doing this on a hot, sunny day, grab a heat gun as you'll need it to blow the frizz out of the packaging. I paid about $17 and bought 2 rolls but it was a lot cheaper than buying overpriced garage door trim at the home center... also I used some extra hardwood that I had so it should last a lot longer than composites. used in alternatives. I'm glad I used the screws because I had to make a few adjustments in cold weather as they weren't as flexible and left some gaps.
