My old Lightscribe drive died and since I no longer upgrade my old computer I figured an external drive that connects via USB is what I need need. me until I invest in a more modern system in the future. I went the second way. While I can create labels that use the entire printable surface of the LS disc, the new Nero software doesn't recognize .ncd files. This means that if my old LS labels start to fade over time, I can't dim them again by putting them back in the drive and re-running the .ncd data they created. Not unless I buy the prohibitively expensive standalone Nero software, which I won't be seeing any time soon. This is not an immediate problem and certainly not the drive's fault. But I say it for people in the same boat as me.
