I wanted to mount the hardware on a 4 1/2 inch thick surface and this was the only product that was suitable for a thick surface. Thick, but the product is not thought out. There is no pad on the drive that touches the underside of the mounting surface. Without rework, a mere screw will tear your table apart. The same goes for the bracket adjustment screws. If you screw it all the way in to tighten and support the assembly, you won't be able to push the bracket all the way toward the mounting surface. If you don't tighten it, the bracket will not be stable. I modified the unit by adding a soft washer to the washer that attaches to the bottom table and I replaced the bracket screws with shorter bolts and nuts with screw heads on the inside of the bracket and put spacers on the screw heads to protect the table surface.
