I put one of these under the plastic tub that we keep our turtle in. So it heats up through two layers of plastic to get to the water that is in the plastic container. It works great and can be easily adjusted little by little to get the desired result. I didn't want heating with any kind of thermostat. I also keep one under the other patch in case the turtle gets cold and wants to warm up. This keeps him from hibernating too early this year. The heater and controls look high quality and are good value.
