Battery powered candles have never looked real. Some have gotten better with LED technology, but almost all of the newest ones I've seen flicker too much, the plastic "flame" jerking under the action of a magnet while the LED light bounces off it. The problem is that there is too much flicker. A real candle flame is very stable unless it is in a draft. For a flashlight, a wildly swirling "flame" looks ridiculous. These tea lights are an attractive exception. With a realistic black wick and a solid flame, they look much more realistic. The flames flicker just enough to look real but not too much. It's obviously not real up close (like any other battery candle), but you can't tell from 10 feet. Plus: It's as bright and white as a real candle. This is the first battery operated candle that really looks real. The only downside and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that (as others have noted) the diameter is too large to fit most tealight holders. They work best on lanterns or tall wall mounts. Definitely a deal.
