I used three of these very strong foam blocks to support and acoustically isolate a heavy window air conditioner from the special wooden platform it sits on. Vibrations from a running air conditioning compressor are no longer transmitted to the wall and window frames via the platform. Even though the unit weighs 90 pounds, the foam deforms or compresses very little, which is exactly what I wanted. The foam blocks were the perfect size and thickness for my application, requiring only one cut. The material cuts easily and fairly cleanly with a sharp utility knife and ruler. The adhesive side of the foam is extremely tacky and will bond well to the relatively rough surface of the plywood to which it is applied. The non-stick side is embossed with a small diamond pattern and provides a grippy (non-slip) surface. Finally, there is no noticeable smell.
