If I'm not an idiot I think this filter is either upside down or the text on its side is misprinted. The extra length of the side "flaps" should protrude up into the filter housing as this is how the genuine OE Ford filter is installed. However, this conflicts with the text on the side of the filter, which indicates the direction of airflow. Should the dark side of an activated carbon filter be the air inlet side? or off? Because if it is missing, then the text on the page will simply be printed incorrectly. However, if the air enters on the carbon side, the filter is not properly manufactured. That is very confusing.
