Review on Mount Genie Simple Built Google by Walter Day

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easier than I thought. Aesthetically pleasing

I don't know much about tools so I was hesitant to buy this one to cut a hole in the wall. I finally forced myself to do it. Ordered a drywall cutter, traced the outline of the included holder. The cut took less than 10 minutes and that's it. I had trouble getting power but I messed something up. Basically I made an extra hole at the bottom near the bottom and routed the power cord tied with a metal hair clip. Then I stuck the magnet through the hole made for attachment and started fishing. After 5 minutes I was able to grab the metal with a magnet and pull it out. Then it works then. I screwed up by not using the spike finder because I made a hole and the spike was right in the middle there. As a result, the sleeve could not settle. So yes I bought a pinhole patch (also a new experience for me), patched the wall and then backed out, now knowing where the bolt was and done ✅ looks great 👍 am very happy with it. The whole thing (including patching the first hole) took 35 minutes.

Pros
  • Requires little installation which is easy for most. The built-in mount comes with a 10ft Nest Hub cable extension and also includes a special adapter for use with our Power over Ethernet adapter (PoE adapter sold separately).
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
