I bought this case after cracking the screen by dropping my laptop 2ft off the floor. After paying $700 for a new screen from Apple, I quickly started looking for something to protect my "double" investment. Most cases were terrible, but this one looked a little better than the one advertising protection in my opinion. As for protection. I can't speak to my experience as I refuse to test it, but the cable seems to hold up against corner bumps and other small drops. The case fits very tightly on the laptop! Be very careful when applying as I accidentally flipped the top and it was very scary to take it off! Because it's so snug against the screen, I could see how you can shatter Apple's fragile screen while trying to remove the case. As you can see from the photo, I have the Dbrand skin on my laptop and the case has come open. the inside of the skin is a little, but nothing serious. I did without the protective cover that came with it because of the leather. One issue I had was that access to the USB-C ports would no longer allow the "flush" dongle I had. You need one that stretches.
