TL;DR:1. Buy.2. If you don't connect it directly to your computer, you may need a USB-C to USB-C cable to avoid potential problems with the included adapters and docking stations. Or you can mark a direction that works. 940+/970MB/s read/write with SONY Cfexpress Tough memory card is about 7.6Gb/s connected to my Macbook Pro (2017 15 inch). My little problem is the cable when docked: this reader comes with a USB 3.2 Type A cable that has a USB A to USB C adapter connected to it connected to the reader in one direction and not in the other. One way is quick. In another case, the drive is disconnected and reconnected, which drops the read average to around 250MB/s and 20mm/s, if it can even pass the 3GB-of-4GB test. I'm not a USB engineer so I don't understand why this happens, but it does. If you just replace the USB-A adapter with a basic USB-C to USB-C cable, everything will work fine no matter which way you connect the cable. I used the "DockCase" cable (ASIN B07THFJ1J5). This may be an issue with the docking station and not the cable. I suggest Trebleet label the cable "up" and "down," but I'm fine with a marker on metal β or they can ship the device with a USB-C to USB-C cable, which is sturdy. It gets a little warm when plugged in for more than 30 minutes, but feels cooler than a dock that's also plugged into a computer. I'm also a bit worried about spring loaded card readers since cheap Dell units have given up the ghost, but I think my cameras have these spring mechanisms and I've never had a single failure. budget card readers for $100 and up. I'll see how it compares to the Canon R5 built-in card reader that I pre-ordered.
