We bought two of these devices and scanned the barcodes into a spreadsheet to later import into an ecommerce system. Many scanned barcodes were wrong. About a third of the time, one of the digits in the UPC code is omitted. Not always the same number. We tried this on two different computers with two different operating systems, plugged directly into the computer's USB port without a hub. This barcode scanner has one job: to scan barcodes. Unfortunately, only two scans out of three will provide you with all the numbers you need to generate a valid UPC code for the product you're scanning. This happened with both of the scanners we ordered. Unfortunately, it took us a while to figure out what was going on. This product is not suitable for the intended purpose. Another reviewer said she gave it to her kids as a toy. I think that would be ideal for that. It's light, plastic, and too big to choke on. If you're in business, keep looking!
