Review on 🎧 Enhanced Audio Experience: Silver DAC Digital Decoder Headphone Amplifier for Hi-Fi Sound by Kendrick Dooley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It looks like a factory clone of Fosi Audio Q4

The packaging is exactly the same, the components are exactly the same. The DAC looks exactly the same except for the branding. But the DAC has a metal ring that you plug your headphones into, compared to the black one on Fosi. I suspect the internal components are of variable quality so maybe they can undercut any components that Fosi refuses for their DACs. I didn't open it, but I tested them against each other and immediately found that AIYIMA is slightly quieter than Fosi on all the same settings. I'm not so much a music lover to say unequivocally that the sound quality has gone down, but maybe? Even if it were, for the price this thing is an absolute steal. You may be literally stealing from a designer, but your conscience is yours. Both absolutely outperform it at both price points, and I noticed a noticeable improvement in sound quality over the $100 DragonFly Black. AIYIMA and FOSI need two cables, USB only for power supply (adapter not included, but PC USB port can power it normally) and any other kind of data cable. An optical and a USB data cable are included, but a coaxial cable is not. If you need a DAC for your laptop, DragonFly is a much more elegant, compact and convenient solution. But for the tower I would choose AIYIMA or FOSI. I really like the EQ controls, both for the quality of the tone control and the fact that they are indexed, which makes restoring a previous setting - yes - a breeze. The sound quality compared to the FX Audio X6 doesn't seem to differ to me, but the controls really outperform this guy compared to the FX. Didn't open the FiiO E10K for comparison.
