CHILLED Dough: The inner blade pops out easily because it's not even attached to the spatula. The blade stays in place because it is pressed into the curve of the shovel and the bulge at the end of the blade protrudes from a small hole at the very top of the shovel. The bucket lid is the part of the bucket that does most of the digging work. When the hard dough presses against the top of the blade, the thickening of the blade will pop out of the hole, causing the blade inside the blade to weaken and stop working. The only way around this is to use the side of the spatula very gently to pick up the batter, which is an awkward position for the wrist and hand to try and scoop up the batter. OTHER: If the dough or something else is soft, the blade will stay in place. It makes good scoops and feels very sturdy.
