Rebuilt a 5.3 in my Chevy Express and with 200k on the van realized I should just do a new alternator now. I came with the standard 105 amp which was good for 200k but wanted to upgrade to the largest OEM option available. It was attached directly with no modifications, I just had to use a longer strap for it. This is the strongest belt you can get. Although the pulleys are the same size on the 105 and 145 you will need a longer belt as the alternator is physically larger and sits higher on the existing bracket. It was around $380 at local parts stores and only $170 on Amazon! Completely new! (Never buy a remanufactured alternator they will never last long, just buy a new OEM and you will stop worrying about it) I was wondering if I would actually get a REMAN at that price but no, I have a brand new AC DELCO OEM DR44 monster.
