UPDATE 180626: I was sent a replacement unit (with expedited shipping) which arrived shortly thereafter and has worked great with constant use ever since! UPDATE 180525: Unitek has responded to my request and is sending a replacement unit under the terms of the warranty. When using the second compartment for the first time, the device started to smoke: I could never read a disc there because. The front bay worked for a few uses, but now (data migration between 27" iMacs) it doesn't even recognize ANY drive in that bay. I ended up using a SATA to USB cable to complete the job. Worst $40 I've ever spent on tech. The change is pending review after helpdesk and support have responded.
