Review on Mann Filter MANN HU 7029Z by John Thawngzauk

This filter has changed, and not for the better. The filter now has an inner plastic sleeve with reamed holes similar to the part that attaches to the filter housing. The problem is that now there are two similar structures in the filter and the holes are not on top of each other, which I think will cause oil flow problems. The last filter I received from Revain with the same part number was wrong. There is another reviewer here who mentions the same thing and I am actually using the picture from that review to show the new plastic internals. I installed this filter and drove it maybe 200 miles and finally got to the parts store and bought a new filter which is plastic free in the second picture. I just couldn't trust that Revain filter, these engines are too expensive to risk running out of oil! From now on I buy from the parts store and open the box there as well to make sure that the design hasn't changed either.
