We bought this rack about a month ago and have put it on almost 1,400 miles since then. It was easy enough to assemble and install on the hitch. One thing that bothered me before our first ride was that the saddles could slide off the ends on each rail as there was nothing stopping them. I calmed myself down a bit by drilling some holes and threading screws into the ends of the rails to act as stops. I also tied the bikes to the hitch so they couldn't be stolen if we stopped somewhere and the tether also acted as a secondary safety stop. I'm glad I did both because the saddles shifted during the ride even though they were tight enough. I love that the trunk folds down so we can open the tailgate of our SUV even with the bikes on. As already mentioned, it can be easily mounted on the trailer hitch. The rattling noises of the strut while driving were minimal to non-existent. I think that this rack has served satisfactorily in our transport. There are of course better towbars. For short trips it will be ok. Not sure if we will use it for another long trip.
