Reads almost 10 degrees in elevation. UNSURE!

Right out of the box, the reading went up almost 10 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature fluctuated 2 degrees in 1 minute. I keep my house at 69 degrees Fahrenheit. My cheap replacement Walmart thermometer is next to it in the photo for reference. Reading while high is not only frustrating but also unsafe. The screen is also not very legible. The window is too small for the size of the LCD digits.
