I bought these to work with abalone shells and they work really well! I used about 5 bits and I used them for drilling holes and removing pieces of outer casing from broken pieces. The latter takes a long time, but I don't know if it's faster with another brand of bit. I can't say how long they will last as I've only worked on a few of them but they haven't broken yet or anything. I use them in a shallow bowl of water or just on wet sinks. They have a 3/32" shank, so I used them in my electric nail file (it's professional grade, not aliexpress junk or a Dr Scholls pedicure thing). I will not buy a special drill if it works great. I will definitely be ordering another box or two over the next few months so I have a spare when the bits wear out. We highly recommend checking them out if you're just getting started with skins!
