Review on πŸ”Œ High-Quality USB to RS232 Male Adapter with PL2303 Chipset - CableCreation Serial Converter for Windows, Mac, and Linux by Conrad Greene

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Huge piece of crap, fits computers and accessories

I ordered 2 of these USB to RS232 adapters to use with my ham radio gear. The main reason was to replace a pair of connectors with many different connectors. I wanted to have the most direct connection possible. One of the main considerations was that they had female DB9 connectors. After trying to get her to work all day, I give up. The computer (Windows 7 Pro) recognizes that they are present, but I cannot transfer device data. Other USB to RS232 adapters work with gender reassignment but not this one. The driver CD is also not recognized by my drive. I had to use a second computer and copy the driver installation files over a USB drive. Then Windows 7 won't install them because "the best driver is already installed". Last but not least, the thumbscrews for tightening in the connector are annoying, which are very small, have no slot for a screwdriver and are almost impossible to tighten. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THESE.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Obsolete model
