Works with old SK7500CSU wireless keyboard with serial mouse port

Pros: Works great with new WIN 10 HP Z640 workstation. Just plug it into a workstation and then connect my old SK7500CSU wireless IR cable for windows keyboard mouse to I t. It took a few minutes for Windows to recognize it and the mouse arrow appeared! CONS: 1) too thick, adjacent USB port cannot be used. 2) Has screw handles, must have threaded holes, because the mouse matching cable also has screw handles.

Pros
  • Great for me

  • Expensive

John Review - Computers & Accessories

I purchased this item to fit between an RS232 ham radio cable set and a USB port on my laptop. However, this device uses a PL2303 chip and I didn't realize I needed a device adapter with an FTDI chip. I might be a good adapter for the application it was made for but it doesn't work in my application as I either need a desktop over the air which I don't currently have with an RS232 port or an FTDI chip- to USB port adapter Take this information for what it is and if you could use that it will…

Easy to use in an industrial environment.

I bought this adapter to replace an inferior adapter of the same type that was losing connection on large transfers. I need this adapter to send CNC data to an old HAAS CNC router over an RS232 serial connection. At first I couldn't send data with this adapter, but I soon found that removing the null modem adapter (which the old adapter required) solved the transmission problem. I have used this adapter in conjunction with the USB to USB Isolation Module (ADUM4160) and have had no data transfer

Plug and play with Win10 PC

I've used this for simple terminal operations on Cisco devices on three different Win10 computers and it's pretty easy. Windows will take a few minutes to finish setting up the drivers and virtual serial port. Then just start PuTTY (e.g.), select "Connection type: Serial" and change the serial line to COM3 or COM5 - whatever the computer has selected in Device Manager. , but can also be easily used with a USB extension cable. And I don't have to worry about cable wear and tear.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Bought to connect an old Agilent data logger - worked great

Bought after trying another device with a "Performance" chipset. After repeated random crashes, I found advice online that an FTDI chipset might fix the problem. Purchased and fixed the crashing issue immediately. I don't know enough about this type of hardware to know if I should have known beforehand, but I do know that this will work with an Agilent 34970 running the old Benchlink software! I also have an old converter (of a different brand) that is FTDI (now that I know) so I would…

Ftdi USB to RS232 for computers and accessories

Arrived quickly. Brand new and date unknown. The driver installation is not yet complete. i like the size It's lightweight and not bulky, so good for portability. It's advertised as plug and play on Windows 10 but it doesn't do it for me on any of my three Windows 10 PCs, once plugged in the computer has a mind of its own and the mouse pointer moves on its own. Attempts to change the position of the pointer result in screen windows opening. It comes with a driver on an included disc. It can be…

Huge piece of crap, fits computers and accessories

I ordered 2 of these USB to RS232 adapters to use with my ham radio gear. The main reason was to replace a pair of connectors with many different connectors. I wanted to have the most direct connection possible. One of the main considerations was that they had female DB9 connectors. After trying to get her to work all day, I give up. The computer (Windows 7 Pro) recognizes that they are present, but I cannot transfer device data. Other USB to RS232 adapters work with gender reassignment but not
