Excellent fit and finish; fits perfectly with Cane Creek Thudbuster

Okay, that's a gasket. He comes and does what he has to do. I wouldn't normally take the time to review such a simple product, but the excellent workmanship deserves a mention. I have two sizes of Cane Creek Pads, 27.2-29.8 and 27.2-30.8. The reason is that I use my Cane Creek 3G Thudbuster Long Travel 27.2" seatpost on two of my bikes. Too bad the size 27.2 is not universal. The handling of the Cane Creek pads is impeccable. The black anodizing not only matches the Thudbuster but also has the same micro-etch to hold grease.Sea printing is short lived of course but also flawless. The thicker Cane Creek pads have an extra feature that goes beyond the exterior.Gaskets have a groove opposite the compression groove half thickness. The groove is on the inside wall so can't be seen in the photo. It's the same width as the compression slot and runs the full length of the pad. My 30.8 OD gasket has this groove, but my 29 ".8 OD gasket doesn't. Does it matter? I can squeeze a 30.8 with one hand, but not a thinner-walled 29.8. The groove means you don't have to be a Hercules to tighten the seatpost clamp to withdraw. The instructions call for applying lubricant to all four suitable surfaces; ie the inside diameter of the seat tube, the inside and outside diameter of the spacer and the outside diameter of the seat post. Less is better than more. Lubrication is only to prevent surfaces from corroding one another. If you apply too much, like I did, no matter how hard you tighten the seat clamp, the excess has nowhere to go. The seat post slowly flexes under load like a hydraulic piston. Made in the USA no longer guarantees quality, but it's nice to see when it does.
