Review on 💾 Seagate 4TB BarraCuda Internal Hard Drive - 3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s, 5400 RPM, 256MB Cache for Computer Desktop, PC, Laptop (ST4000DM004) by Joey Pritchard

bought two for a mirrored pair. At least one of them was still working after 60 days, it's RMA. At least the RMA process was easy enough. About 50% satisfied with a whole. I'm hoping one was the worst of the two and the new one holds up, but we'll see. Received the RMA device back and now, after a whopping 10 days in use, the RMA replacement has also bitten the proverbial big one. I've lived by the "skip the Seagate drives" motto for a long time, but I was gifted a 3TB hard drive and it seemed fine (and still alive and well), but this 4- TB hard drives seem to be pretty big crap. so far with a median survival rate of only 33%. Yes. I'll try another RMA when in doubt and hope it works properly, but I'm not too keen on the probability either. UPDATE 09/21/2018 - FAILED AGAIN. 3TB is still good and the other 4TB from Seagate seems to be doing fine, but the second 4TB spare failed again. Wish it could be rated under 1 star - maybe NULL should be an option UPDATE February 18, 2019, 3TB and 4TB #1 still work fine. The other 4TB is now in the third RMA, and the "recertified" replacement drive took less than 90 minutes to come out. I'm giving up on Seagate forever. I love my WD 4TB drives - 2 of them are now working fine in this system, 2 other WD 1TB drives have been running fine for over 8 years. VD here I am.
