I used this to make thin strips of carrot for salad (like what you get in a bag mix). Carrots cut into strips are much more pleasant to me than ordinary cut ones. I love this tool so much I bought a pair for my daughters and will probably buy one for my son (my family's chef). It is well made and very durable! I think everyone who makes salad should have it! There are many other versions of this tool but be aware that many of them are not as closely made and do not have the comfortable feel/grip that this one has. I believe it will take a long time. And yes, I wholeheartedly recommend this remedy.
