MikroTik is one of those companies that nobody really knows about. But once you know about them, you will never go back. They offer different products that use the same kernel, RouterOS. With a little Google, forum searching, and configuration testing, you should be able to customize any device they make. This device, 951Ui-2HnD, is a 5-port SOHO Fast Ethernet (10/100) router. It is equipped with a 680MHz Atheros MIPS processor and is rarely loaded, even when multiple clients are trading packets on it. :) The hardware is solid and never needs a reboot to keep working. I love it. I just want them to make cable modems. :D This (well, pretty much every MT product I've used) is reliable, smooth, and a great choice for home Wi-Fi. They can also be used as a bridge access point, repeater or network bridge. It takes about ten minutes to configure these various settings once you've mastered the basics of RouterOS. It is worth noting that by default these devices are configured to transmit at full power (1000mW). For most home users, this setting is insanely high and can overwhelm the receiving end of your laptop/phone/PC etc. In the Wireless section, click WiFi Interface and Advanced Mode. Then find TX Power and set it to All-Rates-Fixed. The default is 17. Experiment with this until you get strong coverage and excellent TX/RX speeds. Get one, bother yourself and never restart again. :)
