Definitely an upgrade over the Dymo 4XL!

We print a lot of mail on 4x6 labels and have used a DYMO LabelWriter 4XL connected to a USB print server for the last few years. While this combination worked well, there were a few problems: 1) Dymo printers tend to fall apart after just a few months of use. We usually go at least 2 times a year and I always had to have a spare on hand. 2) The need for an additional print server added complexity and occasional problems. When our last Dymo printer broke I was about to get another one when I came across this one. We've used Zebra label printers and have always had good luck with them, so I went with this printer. So far this printer has been a great choice! 1) It's definitely better done. When I took it out of the box, it was obvious that this printer was built to last. We've only been using it for a few weeks; but I will post if we run into any reliability issues. 2) The installation with the integrated print server was extremely easy. It only took a few minutes and we got this printer up and running. 3) It uses the same printer paper as Dymo 4XL, or you can also get paper without alignment holes. It works great either way. 4) Print speed and quality are good. It's almost the same as the Dymo 4XL in that regard. I can't say anything bad about him at the moment. Please remember that there are 2 versions of this printer - and the cheaper model will NOT work. Turn on the Ethernet print server. If you don't need it, then great; but if so, this is the model you want. I highly recommend buying this printer if you print medium to high volume labels. If you only print occasionally, you'll probably be just as happy with Dymo (unless you also need the print server capabilities).

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Sad hardware
